Department of Labor Notification of Decision of the District Office awarded my family the Maximum amount under part B of the EEOICPA today in a claim seeking survivor benefits as my father died due to Urinary Bladder Cancer as a result of his employment at Y-12. My mother originally filed for benefits but she passed away prior to a decision being made on her claim. My sisters and I re-filed claims seeking survivor benefits in August of this year and today the award was made. Please, if you have previously been turned down, re-apply as Nancy suggests. We did and the decision came quickly. The NIOSH are adding to the Special Exposure Cohort new classes of employees at Y-12 and K-25 daily. The criteria was updated in Bulletin 08-41 dated September 15, 2008 that established the parameters which allowed a positive recommended award. Don't give up!</i> *
