I just found this web site by accident. I enjoy looking at all the pictures - both in the year book and in the photo galleries. The year book has all the pictures of the beautiful girls that I wished I had asked out, but didn't have the courage. The 50th reunion pictures show me that I'm not the only one getting older and looking it (and in my case feeling it).

After high school I joined the Navy (instead of getting drafted). I was sailor from 1968 to 1972. I was a ships navigator (Quartermaster) and Master Helmsman on the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga CV60. I make three cruises to the Mediterranean and got to experience Spain, Italy, France, and Greece. I am glad I got to experience the European culture. It made me really appreciate the US.

After the Navy I went to Florida Junior College and the University of Florida (thank goodness for the G I Bill) where I received my Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree. After the first quarter of my Masters program, my wife and I decided to have a baby girl instead. Time to go to work.

Basically I spent my entire working years working on Department of Defence contracts. I worked for Lockheed Martin in Orlando for about five years, four of them on the Apache Helicopter. After LM I worked for a division of Emerson Electric which later became Electronics and Space Corporation (ESCO). I worked for them for eleven years until I got laid off. I worked on various projects including a torpedo decoy device, a couple of displays, various automated test equipment, and even a Computer Forwarding System for the USPS. I moved to Duluth Georgia to work for the LORAL Corporation which later became L-3 Communications Display Systems. I designed Flat Panel Displays for military aircraft (jet fighters, cargo  aircraft, and helocopters) and also shipboard use.

I moved back to Florida after I retired, mostly due to my daughters nagging. She has lived in Orlando her entire life and worries about me since I live alone. I live in Groveland Florida about twenty miles northwest of Disney World, which is just far enough to be out of the tourist traffic.

I wish I could have come to the reunions but I only knew of the one that Butch Preisel told me about. I have Degenerative Arthritis and can't get around much (I really hate getting old). I've been back to Oak Ridge a couple of times since I lost my parents in 1995, but my home town will aways be special to me along with the class mates I remember.
