I can not wait to hear about our classmates experiences RVing.  I loved it. Hope to do it again. Met some of the nicest people. Thank you Tom for taking on this task.

Nancy, We'll see how many classmates are vagabonds in motorhomes. We enjoy the travel and wherever we go you meet some great people. And the intersting part about it is little time is wasted getting down to the essence of getting to know someone whithout beating around the bush - no time to waste before we each may be moving on. We are still in contact with people that we met years ago. Many share their discoveries of places and events. I do enjoy 'camping' out - glass of wine around the campfire, some good music and a comfortable bed to sleep in! (I'm over sleeping bags on the ground in tents).
Safe travels

Thanks to Nancy Snowden, my arm was carefully twisted into kicking off this discussion area. Now, if you have wandered into the depth of our class of '66 discussions this far, you are bored, incredibly intelligent, a geek or just maybe you are really trying to connect to this thread. I'll keep it short and assume the later.

Here's the deal: Patty and I have been RV'ng for over 10 years (sailing wasn't level enough for the PA farm girl that I married) and we love it. There are probably some of you that do also, and some that would like to know more about it, so we'll open this up to posted questions and comments.

We are on our 3rd motorcoach (a 40 ft. diesel pusher Country Coach Magna) and berth it at the Hilton Head Island Motorcoach Resort in the heart of Hilton Head Island (see attachment). We have visited the reunions via RV (great way to bring the dogs so they don't complain by calling the local paper and animal rights groups for a press conference). We've been to Canada, Key West, Utah, Arizona, more and back.

Let's start a discussion about trips, ideas, suggestions and connections. Here's our biggest problem: we have yet to find a good RV Park close to OR & Knoxville that has reasonable accommodations. Milton Hill Dam site has a great campground, but withoutany electric at the sites (Duh! Don't they make buckets of electricty at the dam?) So let's kick this off gang. Got any funny stories? Favorite Campgrounds or trips?

If you decide to visit HHI in your Class A or C motorcoach, consider our resort (because Walmart won't let you park in their parking lot!).

How fun is this!  Earl and I retired in 2008 and bought our first RV.  It is a tag-a-long 26 foot...man Tom 40 foot but you have been practicing for 10 years.  We are still learning.  First trip was to Townsend, then to Damascus VA and Fries VA for some bike riding.  First big trip was May-June 09: Memphis, Amarillo, Alburqurque, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Bryce Canyon and Moab in Utah, Breckenridge, Golden/Denver, then across Kansas and Missouri to home.  Wonderful, wonderful time.  Next was to Galax VA for bike riding then onto Outer Banks.  Last trip this year was back to Damascus and Boone NC before winterizing (I hate that part as I want to go, go, go).  We are planning a trip for 2010 to include Branson, Golden Colorado again (to visit with our youngest), Custer, Mt Rushmore, Door County, Wisconsin, Mackinaw Michigan, and Niagara Falls.  All new areas for us..except Golden.  As soon as we get home I am ready to head out again.  Hmmm...south Florida in February sounds really good!!  If anyone has some tips for our 2010 planned trip...pass them on.  Thank you Tom for heading this group.  I hope to see lots of tips and travel tales on our class site.
Happy Trails, Brenda and Earl Knoch

Is your Hilton Head RV park dog friendly? I mean 'LARGE DOG' friendly, like in Doberman? Melton Hill Dam has put in sites with electricity, just a few. There are a couple of nice ones on the lake in Roane County, just about 30 minutes from Oak Ridge, or Norris Dam State Park is also close, less than 30 minutes. I have a new (2010) Casita, am leaving in the morning (3-25-11) for Key West!
