Whassup Ya'll?

It'd be great to get some hits on this website other than around reunion times. I've been going through the yearbook, again and again. Remember the football games at Jefferson and walking around the track a million times to see everyone?  Don't you wish we could time travel back to 1966 -- it's so nostalgic to see the familiar faces and names but not know where they are, how they're doing.  And the 'In Memory of' is heartbreaking.  I feel like family has left us. anyone else feel the same?

I went to the 2006 reunion and had a blast!  But I needed to line everyone up and give each a hug--so many people, so little time.  So glad I went!

Hey, does anyone even remember me?

Love and my best to you all.
Barbara Phillips

Barbara,
I  hope you are doing well. It is good to hear from you . I don't remember if I got to talk to you at the 40th reunion, but I hope to see you at the next one. I still live in Oak Ridge. I just never got away from here. I run into your brother John often.  Tom Wilson

Hello there, Stranger!  I've wondered about you throughout the years!  Yes, indeed, most of us remember you...you were always one of the prettiest girls in our class!  As for me, I'm married, live in Knoxville, and have worked at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory for 43 years.  Plan to retire in 1 1/2 years, and I can hardly wait.  Life's good, I remember all those things you mentioned, and it's great to hear you're still around!  Janie

Tommy Wilson, you're always so thoughtful and try to respond to everyone...thank you so much for that!  Hope this finds you and your family doing just great!  Janie

So happy for the messages!

I heard from Willie Golden and now from Janie and Tommy--sorry, you'll always be Tommy and Janie to me.  I saw you at the 2006 reunion, Janie--you looked fabulous, young, and vibrant, as always!

Tom, I told Willie I almost decided to move back for nostalgia purposes and to be around those who were still in O.R., but the heat and humidity settled that for me.  Whew!!!  Your blood must be much thinner than mine.  I prefer the rainy NW (Oregon/Puget Sound WA) where I lived for over 6 years, but Michigan with its cold winters and shorter summers has grown on me.  I don't know why I was born and raised in the hot south--mistake of nature!

So hope others check in at this website to catch up and leave messages.  I'm so glad it was created.

Take care, ya'll!  Love ya!  Barbara Phillips

Barbara,

Although our class was around 650 people, we all knew each other at least to some degree, even if just in recognizing photos.  I do remember you but your photo was missing from the Yearbook.  It isn't anymore! That beautiful face is right where it should be, even if it is the picture from the '65 Annual.

By the way, if anyone else's photo is missing, let me know and I can add it, assuming it was in the '65 or '64 Yearbook.  Otherwise I wouldn't have anything to scan, unless you can supply it yourself.

Here's to the ones we've loved and lost and to the rest of us getting together soon!

Great to hear from you!  My goodness...Michigan!  Where in Michigan do you live?  I have an uncle and cousins who live in Grosse Pointe in Detroit.  I almost ended up in Seattle, WA, several years ago...an executive from Boeing wanted me to marry him and move all the way to Seattle!  I visited there a few times, and it was great to visit, but I just couldn't move that far away...ha. Keep us posted on how you are!  Yes, I now remember seeing you at that reunion (been a few years), and you hadn't changed one bit...ha.  How do you do that?  Best to you!  Janie

And sweet in your comment about my photo.  Thanks for putting it in the yearbook.  I think I had a year of anti-establishment, non-conforming moments in my senior year.  Thus, no photo.

And after high school in my hippy years, I really had a lot of non-conformist, anti-establishment times.  Boy, were they fun!!!  My favorite era of all times--the late 60's, early 70's--Doors, Joplin, Hendrix, etc.  Wish I could immerse myself in those years again--knowing what I know now.

Hey, let's start section at this website (or a link to one we Class of 66ers can go to) that allows us the opportunity to share the places we've been, things we've done, our favorite times and experiences.  Good idea??

Ted, thanks again!!! Take care!
Barbara

Holly smolly I thought this was for a massage and I just saved up the money.  Really it is great to find somewhere else to contact some of the ORHS crazies.  You know the word was out that we glowed in the dark even in the day.  Hey Barbara how could I forget you and your brother John.  Loved both of you.  I left TN For Ft. Lauderdale 25 years ago and now live in Winter Haven Fl.  Love the warm weather and can't get north much.  Give John my cell phone #865-617-2201.  Say hey to anyone and see you at the next reunion.  Love Wesley

Yes, I remember you . Who could forget you. We have a lot of great times at your house and driving all over O.R. I won't ever forget the Youth Life Meeting at ya'll house. It was good seeing you at that reunion. Are you still watching over your Mom? It has been too long since we were all together. Maybe we can still have fun!!

What's wrong with me?!! It's 8/17 and I'm just seeing your message! Good grief! Huh...massage? You for real? You couldn't save up enough money for me!!!

So, what's new since your message? Sorry I was such a lame brain and didn't see people actually responded to my Wassup Ya'll message. Duh! I'm no in touch with John anymore but last I knew, his landline number was 865-483-0310. Don't know if he still uses it or just his cell, but there it is! So I finally bought my first house and love it! I'm the proverbial crazy ole cat lady, very much a loner and loving it, but nuts about hearing from you! I'm in Michigan...took care of my mother until she died 8/12 at 95 and because I like cold weather, I stayed.  So, wassup, buddy?

Eddy Smith! Why did it take so long for me to see if anyone replied to my Wassup Ya'll message! Geez! My mother left her body to bug me from the Universe 5 years ago (8/12) at 95...so I decided to stay in Michigan since I'm so old now :-) and prefer the cold/winters! Can't keep moving all over the place forever. Bought my first house so guess I'm staying. Very much a happy loner with my two kitties but love catching up! So what's new since your message?

Hi once again to everyone who checks out the message aboard!

Barbara

I GOT IT! In August 2017! Geez! Time is passing WAY too fast! How come I haven't been back on this website lately? How are YOU doing!!! How come you're not in the Yearbook, my friend?

What's new since your message? Where in the TN mountains are you, if you're still there, and what took you there? I think I'm jealous!!! Hope you get this as well! Let me hear from you!

Barbara

Talk about not checking back!  Two years for me to answer you back!  How are you doing and how many cats?  Still in Michigan?  I had aunt and uncle and families that lived in Detroit!  Winter too cold for me!  The less clothes the better!  Last time I saw John was in Dec 2009 at my mom’s funeral!  He is one of my all time favorite people!  He was still in OR then!  Try to make the next reunion if able!  I went to the 50th and had a ball!  If you are coming to central Fl let me know!
