Brad was a great friend. I first met him at Elm Grove.  I agree with David --it's a sad day.

I too met Brad at Elm Grove and we saw each other often on/around Delaware Ave.  I rarely saw Brad without Bobby Shnider and often with David Asher and Jimmy Poe, among others.  Rest in peace, Brad - we will all miss you.

I also knew Brad from Elm Grove. He and I roomed together at E.T.S.U. for over a year. He had a great sense of humor. He will be missed.

It is very sad to learn of Brad's passing. He was a close friend and a great person. Brad had fought cancer years ago when he first moved to the Washington  area. I last saw Brad about three years ago. At that time he was doing very well and in apparent good health. Brad was the type person who could always brighten your day. He was very witty and fun to be with.

I know I'm late posting even though I saw this in June.  I have to be honest and admit I once had a crush on Brad.  It makes my heart sad.

It's hearwarming to read everyone's messages.  Brings up those warm and fuzzy memories!

The following was passed along to us from Karen Skellie -

The family did not put obituaries in any papers, but I can give you a brief something you could use for the class web site.

Brad lived and worked in the Washington, DC area in Woodbridge, Virginia with his wife, Karen Sullivan Strohecker, ORHS class of 1967.  They have one son, Jason who lives in Virginia with his wife Sarah, and their two daughters, Emma and Avery.  Emma and Avery were the shining lights of Brad's later life.  Brad worked thirty years for the IRS in software development and had many friends among his co-workers.  After retirement, he organized a retirees' lunch every month to keep in touch.  He loved sports, especially the Washington Redskins and the Hokies of VA Tech, Jason's alma mater.  He and Jason shared season Redskins tickets for 16 years.  He loved being active and enjoyed biking and watching Emma and Avery's sports events.  He had health issues on and off throughout his life that he met with courage and determination.  He died on June 18, 2013 after a 10 year battle with duodenal cancer. Brad will be missed for his love of life and family.  He was with us too short a time.
