Richard Allen Brown, age 64, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Richard was born Nov. 12, 1946, in Huntsville, Ala. He moved to Oliver Springs in his early childhood.
Richard was a member of the Highland View Church of Christ in Oak Ridge. He worked as a welder and pipefitter and he was a member of the Labor Local No. 102 in Knoxville.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, James Walter Brown and Imogene Hendon Brown.
He is survived by a daughter, Sonya Johnson of Knoxville; sons, Richard Allen Brown II and wife, Sherri, of Clinton and Eric Brown and wife, Shasta, of Oliver Springs; and grandchildren, Evan Johnson and Lindsey Brown.
He is also survived by a brother, John R. Brown and wife, Gail, of Stockbridge, Ga.; a special cousin, Jimmy Roper; and a special friend, Rozella McCarter.
The family received friends Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral followed at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with pastor Barry Ariaz officiating.
Burial and graveside services will be held Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
