Bailey Gary Michael 6-2-01
Complications from Auto Accident
Former Oak Ridge Resident
Gary Michael Bailey, 53 of Little Rock, Ark., died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 2, 2001, in Little Rock.  He had been in a near-fatal auto accident two years ago and had ongoing complications.
Mr. Bailey was born in Oak Ridge on March 12, 1948.  He graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1966 and from the University of Tennessee in 1970 with a degree in business.
He had lived in Arkansas since 1984 and was a sales representative with Lane Furniture Co.
He enjoyed trout fishing, hunting, sports and traveling.  His family said every year he traveled with a group of fraternity brothers to wherever the Southeastern Conference tournament games were being played and made it to his beloved University of Tennessee Volunteers football games.  Even with his medical problems, he was able to enjoy a full life with his family and a host of friends, they said.
Mr Bailey is survived by his mother, Carrie Bailey of Oak Ridge; his children, Joseph Gray Bailey and Elizabeth Bailey both of Fayetteville, Ark.; his brother, James Bailey and his wife, Tracy, of Selma, Ala; and his sister, Deborah Sims and her husband, Bruce of Hendersonville.
He is also survived by his nephews Blair Sims and Jonathan Sims, both of Hendersonville; his niece Madison Bailey of Selma; his aunts, Mayme Leath and Mac Bailey, both of the Solway Community; his uncle, Jim Fox also of Solway; and many cousins.
Rosemary Rachel of Fayetteville, Ark., was his former wife and considered his friend.
His father, James 'Jim' Bailey died earlier.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday , June 9, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Brian Walls officiating.
The body will be cremated as Mr. Bailey wished and the ashes scattered in places he loved such as his cabin on a trout stream in Heber Springs Ark.
The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to Friends of the Little Red River, Rip Collins Memorial Scholarship Fund, Arkansas Tech University, Russellville, AR 72801
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary.
