Campbell Jim 6-20-14

Jim Campbell died June 20, 2014

We all benefited from Jim's talent for organization starting in junior high at Jefferson  where he put together sock hops, a prom and got buses for the away games.  He later used his skills to organize gay pride events in San Francisco, San Jose and other cities around the country during which times he met and developed friendships with Liz Taylor, Cher, Tina Turner, Paul McCartney and other performers.

Jim along with Ted Cole spent untold hours setting up our class web site.  He helped maintain the Graphics through out the years along with other web site duties.

Jim became ill in Feb before our last reunion.  Although he had recovered he had a relapse at our reunion and could only stay 45 min.  He spent most of the week here in bed and upon return to San Jose spent most of the next few months in and out of the hospital.  He was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease which was causing scar tissue to build up in his lungs.  Chemo has dramatically improved his condition this past year but in early June after a check up Doctors called him and said they needed to put him in the hospital.  For some reason his condition suddenly became extremely bad in a very short period of time.

Jim Graduated from the University of Tennessee and went on to work for several major companies and later developed several businesses of his own which he later sold.  He had also developed several patents.

Jim traveled through out the world even to remote unheard of places like Turkistan etc.  He lived in New York, Virginia, Miami, New Orleans and finally settled in San Jose Ca.

A memorial service was held for Jim at the Food Bank where he volunteered for several years.

He leaves behind Randy, his life partner of 37 years and his sister Janie Campbell and numerous nieces and nephews besides all of his numerous friends who loved him and will miss his smile.
