William Roger Davis, 39, of Shenandoah, Ga., died Sunday, Aug. 30 at Newnan Hospital in Newnan, Ga. after a long illness with cancer.
A native of Asheville, N. C., Mr. Davis came to Oak Ridge in 1951 with his family. Â He attended Oak Ridge Schools and graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1966, where he was a member of the band for three years
After graduating from high school, Mr. Davis attended Blanton Business College in Asheville, where he studied traffic management. Â He later studied business administration at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte.
He was employed in the regional office of Johnson Motor Lines in Charlotte for several years. Â He later worked for Brown Transfer Company of Atlanta where he established and managed an office for the company in Charlotte. Â In 18k=980, he transferred to Brown's Atlanta office, where he worked until becoming ill.
A U>S> Army veteran, Mr. Davis was a member of Kern Memorial Methodist Church in Oak Ridge. Â He was also an active member of Victory Tabernacle Interdenominational Church in Newnan.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Gail Conkle Davis; his parents, William and Marie Davis 947 West Outer Drive, two sisters, Elizabeth Anne Mason of 22 Honeysuckle Lane and Sarah Kathryn Barr of Norcross, Ga.; two nieces; and two nephews.
The funeral was to be held today at 2 p.m. at Victory Tabernacle Interdenominational Church in Newnan, with the Rev. Don Hughes officiating.
McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan was in charge of arrangements.
