Michael Tom Fowler, 56, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at his
home. He was born Jan. 20, 1948, in Canyon, Texas. He graduated from Oak Ridge
High School in 1966 and attended East Tennessee State University and the
University of Tennessee. He was an avid fisherman and his family said he knew all the
good fishing spots. According to his family, Mr. Fowler enjoyed playing chess
and was a talented writer and wrote numerous articles about fishing for the
Knoxville Journal and various magazines. For a brief period, he wrote the
'Outdoors' column for The Oak Ridger and covered fishing tournaments. He also worked
as a security guard. Mr. Fowler is survived by his parents Waunett and Tom
Bill Fowler. His family said the body was cremated as he requested and there
will be no public funeral. The family requests any memorials be in the form of
