Gilbert, Sheila K - OBITUARY OF KAY TURNER

Kay Turner, 72, of Lebanon TN, passed away on July 1, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Christene and Roy Gilbert of Oak Ridge TN, and the wife of Donald Turner. Kay and Donald were married 50 years on June 5th.
Kay was a loving wife, mother, and “Nana�. She was an active member of Music City Baptist Church and a graduate of Carson Newman University with a BA in Education. She was a middle school teacher and an ESL teacher.
An educator at heart, Kay was passionate about Bible Study, teaching children and adults. She was a prayer warrior for her church, her family and friends. She taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the “Weekly Wednesday Prayer Group of Lebanon�. She was also a Prayer Partner of the “Government Prayer Alliance of Wilson County�.
Kay’s love of God and people was reflected in all of her relationships and in her daily life. She was an avid reader and also loved cooking for her family and trying new recipes.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include sister, Sue (Albert) Lepper of Hoschton GA, a brother, Tim Gilbert, of Canton GA, son Trent (Brittany) Turner of Lebanon TN, and grandsons Dawson and Carter, also of Lebanon TN. Kay was loved by aunts, uncles, nieces, and cousins.
The Funeral Service, conducted by Dr. Ben Graham, is 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2021 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN with interment to follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.  Pallbearers: David Garrett, Thomas Turner, Richard Turner, Seth Hallums, Curtis Gilbert, and John Fultz. Honorary Pallbearers are grandsons Dawson and Carter Turner. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the service at 3 p.m.
