I am a life long resident of Oak Ridge leaving only to attend Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, TN. I met my future wife Cathe there on April 25, 1968 and we married June 28, 1969.
We were blessed with two wonderful daughters each graduates of ORHS who live nearby with their families. Christy my oldest has been an Elementary School teacher for the past 14 years and she and husband have a daughter. Elly my baby daughter is a para-legal for a large law firm in Knoxville. She and husband have three sons. My grandchildren are fourth generation Oak Ridger’s.
Cathe my wife of 45 years and 9 months passed away last year after having suffered from the effects of MS. She was an avid OR Football supporter and was known as the “Penny Lady” who provided Coach Joe Gaddis lucky pennies for each of the games that he coached. She was honored in a 2013 Oak Ridger article written by S. Ray Smith.
The last fifteen years of my life has been devoted to the care and support of my wife. This was for the most part a 24 hour a day job with no days off. I retired from the security division at Y-12.
Currently life for me is a bit of a fog as I wonder and try to find my footing again.
