Mitchell Clem 5-14-15

Clemmie Lee Mitchell, Sr. 'Dewey' was born in Aberdeen, Mississippi, on April 29, 1948 to Clint T. and Parlee Mitchell. He began his heavenly journey on May 14, 2015 at the age of 67 years old. We can now hold in our hearts and memory all of the good that characterized his life for sixty-seven years. 'Dewey' was a world class husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clint T. Mitchell; a sister Mary Lee; father-in-law, James A. Hodges; nephews, Hobert 'Hedo' Mitchell, Fredrick 'Appleman' Black, Alonzo Slater, and Erwin 'Little Teddy' Mitchell, II.

Clemmie or ''Dewey' as he was affectionately known, graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1966. After graduating from high school he went to work at Reel and Slusser Printing Company. After a year, he joined the Job Corp which took him to California for a year.

He then returned to Oak Ridge, TN, where he married the love of his life, Eula Hodges. He was then employed with Oak Ridge Mental Health Center for two years.

He settled into his career as a Security Guard at Union Carbide, which later became Martin Marietta from where he retired. He accepted Christ in his life in 1985 at the Scarboro Church of Christ in Oak Ridge, TN.

'Dewey' was known for his love of all kids, family, and friends. He never met a stranger. His outgoing personality and love for people allowed him to form a bond with everyone he met. His motto was 'If you can't help a man, don't hurt him'. He always lent a helping hand to everyone in need, no matter what the situation was, he opened his ears to listen and opened his heart to love and always gave expert advice when needed.

'Dewey' enjoyed fishing, cooking, barbequing, making homemade ice cream, nature, cars, motorcycles, spending quality time with his grandkids and sports.

He was an adventurous person who loved to drive around, sight see while discovering yard sales, flea markets and bartering along the way. From household to automotive he was mechanically inclined to handle all situations dealt. Handyman, consultant, liaison, one call = that's all.
