Majors James Corbett 6-16-03
Jamer Corbett Majors, 55 of Oak Ridge died Monday, June 16, 2003 at his home. Born in Oak Ridge in 1948 he was the son of Roger M Majors and Helen Majors both now deceased.
Mr. Majors graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1966.
He served with the Seabees in the U.S. Navy from 1967 until 1973. Â He was stationed in Italy and served aboard the U.S.S. Tallahatchie County and the Saratoga during the Vietnam War era. Â He concluded military service with the U.S. Naval Reserves.
Mr. Majors worked as a stock clerk with Big Lots for 15 years and prior to that was employed with A & P grocery store.
He was a member of Robertsville Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Roger Majors Jr. and Judy Lynn Majors who both died in infancy.
He is survived by his son, Gregory Ray Majors and his wife, Jodi, of Lenoir City, and Steven Eric Majors and his wife, Kristi, of Powell.
He is also survived by three sisters, Beverly Majors of Oliver Springs, June Yarborough and her husband, Joe Hixson and Penny Dyer of Chattanooga; and by several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to a charity of the donor's choice.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at Weatherford Mortuary
