William Allan 'Bill' Muenzer, age 63, of Knoxville and formerly of Oak Ridge, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family and friends.

William Allan 'Bill' Muenzer, age 63, of Knoxville and formerly of Oak Ridge, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family and friends.

Bill was a member of West Hills Baptist Church and the Knoxville Philatelic Society and the owner of K-Town Stamps. Bill was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. An avid UT Volunteer football fan, who wanted to see another UT football season before he left us.

Bill retired from Y-12 in Oak Ridge as a chemical engineer after 27 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Dorothy Muenzer; brother, Ronald Muenzer; and nieces, Lisa Tucker and Lara Cottrell.

Bill is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Sheila Armstrong Muenzer; son, William Allan Muenzer II; daughter, Alyson Lynn; stepson, Scott Hawes; grandson, Michael 'Wil' Lynn; sister and brother-in-law, Ellie and Landrum 'Lanny' Tucker; sister-in-law, Becky Witt; brother-in-law, Dave 'Smokey' Witt; sister-in-law, Verda Muenzer; several nieces and nephews and many devoted friends.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with the Rev. Jack Pennington and Mrs. Linda Mowles officiating.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Thompson Cancer Survival Center, 1915 White Ave., Knoxville, TN 37916.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
