I was born at Oak Ridge Hospital, lived on Pelham Road, attended Pine Valley Elementary, Jefferson Junior High and ORHS. Â I loved growing up in Oak Ridge, and remember the green grass and trees, the neighborhood kids, birthday parties, the huge pool, as well as our coal bin, 3-party telephone lines, the day they opened the gates, G-Road, air raid drills, proms, and much more. Â
After high school, I received my B.A. in Psychology from Emory University in Atlanta, moved to southern California and received my M.A. in Organizational Development from Azusa Pacific University. Â I was a mental health counselor for several years, and then moved into international Human Resources administration for 30+ years. Â For 14 years, I worked with an international relief agency, working with disaster teams in more than 30 countries. Â I lived in Sudan, Africa for one year until all Americans were emergency evacuated. Â After that I moved into full time administration with several universities and retired from Cal Poly Pomona University at age 58. Â Retirement was too tame for me, so I returned to work at a large hospital before retiring again.
I am married to Dr. Lane Scott, a most wonderful man. Â Lane recently retired after serving 43 years as a professor and university administrator in Theology and Ethics. Â We have two married sons and a daughter; six energetic granddaughters (ages 4, 6, 12, 13, 20 and 28), and a 2 year old great-grand son (finally, a boy!). Â They all live in southern California and Colorado. Â We also love animals and had 4 rescue cats and 2 dogs for many years. Â
After 4o+ busy years in southern California, Lane and I retired 5 years ago to beautiful Arizona. It took awhile to get used to a slower life style, but now we love it. Â We love the incredible scenery, the wide open spaces, and the wildlife here-everything from quail and roadrunners to coyotes and javelina. Â We live in an active community with 8 golf courses, several olympic size pools and over 200 clubs, so we stay really busy. Â We enjoy spending time with family and friends, and also love traveling and cruising (we love Europe but our favorite place is Hawaii). Â We highly recommend the whole retirement experience!
I am excited to be able to finally attend the 50th reunion, and see my classmates as adults, although I will always remember everyone as kids.
