Simmons Thomas Aiden 7-29-99
Thomas Aiden Simmons, 51, of Nashville, died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at Crestview Nursing Home in Nashville after a lengthy illness.
Mr Simmons was a 1966 graduate of Oak Ridge High School and excelled in track and field at the school. Â He was a graduate of Morristown College and attended the University of Tennessee and Tennessee State University.
For 23 years, until he became disabled, he was a supervisor at Clover Bottom Hospital in Nashville.
Mr Simmons was an active member of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church on Herman Street in Nashville.
He is survived by his mother, Rosa Simmons of Oak Ridge; two sisters, Carolyn Sherrill and her husband, Denard, of Nashville, and Janice Reynolds and her husband, Donald, of Knoxville; and two brothers, Girad Simmons and his wife, Victoria, of Overland Park, Kan., and Hosie Simmons Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Knoxville.
Mr Simmons is also survived by an aunt and uncle he considered special, Estella and Robert Beard of Nashville; aunts Wilene Caruthers of Nashville and Poinsetta 'Anthony of Oak Ridge, uncles Willard Aiden and his wife, Lou, of Nashville, and John Belford of Holly Springs, Miss.; and by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandNephews and cousins.
His father, Hosie Simmons Sr., died earlier.
The funeral will be held at 8 Central Time tonight, Aug 2, in the chapel of Smith Brothers Funeral Home, 706 Monroe St., Nashville, with pastor Percy J. Clark officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3 at Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Nashville.
The body will be on view from 6 to 7 tonight at the funeral home, and the family will recieve friends there from 7 to 8 tonight.
