Sheppard, Kay Ellen

It is with a heavy heart that I share with my ORHS classmates that Kay Ellen Shepherd passed away on May 9th. She had some health issues recently.  I communicated with her son, Todd, and he shared she had moved to an assisted living due to ongoing health issues, had a stroke and had to be placed on a ventilator. Her two sons and brother made the difficult decision to remove this life support due to the stroke extent.  Her husband Billy Morgan had passed away in August 2017. She is survived by her two sons Brian and Todd and their families, and her brother Jerry Shepherd and his family.  Burial was in GA.

Kay Ellen’s Mother kept me along with Carolyn Shockley from about kindergarten until the summer before 7th grade while our parents worked.  Kay Ellen and Carolyn were the sisters I never had and Jerry the pesky little brother I never had.  Kay Ellen and I exchanged Christmas cards every year up until this past one.  I had called her a couple of times in Jan/Feb but was unable to reach her.  My heart is broken as we lost Carolyn in 2009.  

Thank you Janie McCowan for letting me initially know about Kay Ellen. Friends this is happening more and more frequently. Makes me appreciate my “old� friends even more.  Take care.
