Snyder Sally Smith  5-33-13
Sally Snyder Smith, age 64, of Knoxville, Tenn., passed away at her home Thursday, May 30, 2013, ending a three year battle with cancer
Sally was a member of Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church, loved the Lord and her church family dearly. She was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School Class of 1966 and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, 1974. Sally was an accomplished artist and devoted to helping others in need. She was an avid equestrian, successful in both dressage and jumping events, riding Quarter horses in both the American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA) and American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA).
She and her husband, Terry, traveled extensively, visiting and living in many parts of the world, including Europe, Israel, South America and the Middle East. Sally enjoyed boating, her pets and gardening, but above all, Sally was a loving wife, daughter, sister and aunt.
She was preceded in death by her father, Herman George Peter Snyder and is survived by her husband of 38 years, Terry S. Smith; mother, Grace Agnes Snyder; sister, Suzanne Snyder Asher, both of Oak Ridge; father-in-law, Charlie Edward Smith; brother-in-law, Thomas Edward Smith and wife, Elizabeth; sister-in-law, Charlotte Ann Bailey, all of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; nieces, Anna Whitfield of Birmingham, Ala., Angela Hensberry of Oak Ridge; nephews, Martin Smith of Birmingham, Ala., Scott Morrison of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Ryan Asher of Oak Ridge.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 400 Everett Road, with the Rev. Leonard Turner officiating. Interment will be in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made by sponsoring pets at the Young-Williams Animal Center at www.young-williams.org, donations to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org, or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at www.nationalmssociety.org.
