50 years—it is really hard to believe!  What since 1966?  Well, I went to UT, got a Business School degree, worked at K-25 for a year, and only then discovered my career field (Demography).  Went to graduate school (Univ. of Pennsylvania), and then settled down in 1976 for what became a challenging and enjoyable 40-year career at the Census Bureau outside Washington, D.C.  It was a good fit for a numbers-crunching Demographer like me!  I am now retired, and love it!  I live in Alexandria, VA, near Mount Vernon.  And pain-free after hip replacement surgery 5 months ago.  How many other classmates are bionic like me?!
I married in 1981 and have a wonderful family. Â Pam (retired Social Worker) and I are now empty nesters, but our kids all live nearby. Daughter Amy is married and helps husband Chris with his electrical business. Â They have two young children (Ben, 5, and Ali, 3); P-Pop and G-Ma do a good job spoiling them! Â Son Scott is a Historical Interpreter at Mount Vernon and is taking classes at George Mason toward a graduate degree in History. Â Daughter Kelly is a Social Worker for the City of Alexandria; she continues to hone her volleyball skills in a recreational league.
Pam and I are busy with various activities and enjoying the senior years (age is relative—68 was really old when I was in high school, but it doesn’t seem so old now!).  The 50th reunion will be my first trip back to Oak Ridge after my mother passed away last July (she had lived at Greenfield). The connection is different now and that’s sad.  It will be good to see everyone—and at the 55th, 60th, ….  Thanks to the Reunion Committee for organizing these great affairs!
