David 'Larry' Sadowski:The Tennessee branch of the Sadowski family originated in Oak Ridge with the transfer of my Father ,George, who was assigned to chemical warfare branch of the Army Air-corp  to the Manhattan Project .My Mother,Lou worked for the Atomic Energy Commission  and was assigned to the project. They met at a dance social at the tennis courts,on a ladies choice and evidently Mom chose right-she always said that Dad looked so handsome in his uniform and was such a smooth dancer! They were married at St Mary's on October 21st,1944 and lived in Oak Ridge for all their marriage until Dad passed away and Mom came to live with me .It was fantastic to have her live with me ,she was always appreciative of anything done for her and had a great sense of humor, even during some very difficult health problems. As they say ,first comes love, then comes marriage ,then comes my older brother -Steve['63] in a baby carriage then me ,Susan ['68]and Ellen['69] .Steve was a 1963 graduate of ORHS.and was an accomplished  athlete - he was 1st team  All-State in football the year the  team won the state championship. He loved beating Steve Spurrier.quarterback for Johnson City.in the championship game for the state title. There are many funny stories about that game and its outcome-many a beer has been shared over the outcome and how Steve Spurrier still talks about that game .After i graduated from ORHS ,I went to  Clemson University on an athletic scholarship in football.Really had  unbelievable experience and the experience of making many lifetime friends ,who I still see at every football game in Clemson-.we still meet for lunch' and tell old war stories', Also, every year we meet for a weekend  social get together prior to the Spring Game.At Clemson ,I was in ROTC and served in the United States Army until my football injuries, bad knees,  caught up with me and I received a medical discharge As they say good things can come from bad things and .I was awarded a scholarship  to attend graduate school at the beautiful campus of  The University of North Carolina .It was a challenge but I made it and started my career in allied health I also had the opportunity to attend graduate school at Old Dominion University in Norfolk Va..My career spanned 42 years in 5 different states ,8 different organizations serving from 'grunt' up to CEO.My career afforded me the opportunity to be  apart of the development of  significant changes in public policy development for health care, .long term care, geriatric in patient and community based services and most importantly ,federal/state code regarding consumer/family-friendly standards of patient care. Additionally.I've had the opportunity to work with various committees of the United States Congress ,Virginia State Legislature, state /national  professional organizations, advocacy groups and religious organizations.I received several professional  awards and the customary plaques ,which I always hung on my office wall- I have yet to unpack them- I prefer the memories .Family:I live with my mate Shirley and we share our lives together:I have two grown children -David who has two daughters  and Shelly who has a son and daughter-for a total of four grand children who keep me young , broke, and involved.I am blessed that they live near me so I get to see them most every day /week.During my professional career I traveled all over the country and still enjoy seeing all the 'sites'.I have been in almost every state with plans to see the rest in the near future and I have traveled to Canada and Europe ,with hopes of visiting other unseen sites on other continents  soon.I have other hobbies which  I really enjoy-antique and sports cars,.dancing, exercising, motorcycling, yard work and, movies.
