Lawrence W. (Larry) Stripling, 42, former resident of Oak Ridge, died on Thursday, March 29, at his home in San Francisco, Calif., after a long illness.
He was a 1966 graduate of Oak Ridge High School and Attended the University of Tennessee.  Later, Mr. Stripling attended the O'Moore School of Design in Franklin, Tenn., and was a floral and landscape design consultant in California.
Mr. Stripling was the son of Alberta Stripling of 111 Orchard Lane and the late Col. Raymond S. Stripling.  He is also survived by a brother, Raymond A. Stripling of Chapel Hill, N.C.
There will be a memorial service at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 31, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, where Mr. Stripling was a member, with the Rev. Stephen Freeman officiating.  The family will greet friends following the service.
They request that any memorials be in the form of donations to be used for planting trees in Oak Ridge.  Contributions in Mr. Stripling's name should be made to the City of Oak Ridge, in care of Parks and Recreation Department, P.O. Box, 1, Oak Ridge, Tenn. 37830.
