Sluss Pat 2016
I met a guy from Lake City while working at Shoney's during my senior year. Â We were married July 25, 1966, and started our married life in Cleveland, OH. Â My husband was drafted the next June. Â He became an MP and was stationed in Germany. Â After his discharge, we lived in Cleveland for a few years, where our son Tim was born November 1970. Â Three daughters were born at Oak Ridge Hospital: Clara March 1975, Elizabeth December 1979, and Becca August 1981. Â I attended Roane State Community College in 1987 - no degree.
We moved to Asheville, NC in 1987 due to my husband being transferred to manage a new branch of the company he worked for in Knoxville. Â I started substituting after we had been there about a year. Â In 1997, I became a one-on-one teacher assistant for a blind student in middle school until spring of 1999. Â I then became the secretary for the counselors and Administrative Assistant at Asheville High School.
I attended the 25th Reunion with my husband and went on the riverboat cruise with our two youngest daughters.
Nana is what I am called by 6 grandchildren (4 boys and 2 girls) ranging from 13 to 22 years of age. Â The oldest granddaughter made me a great-nana to a little girl who will have her first birthday on June 18th of this year.
I was happy to retire on May 1, 2011 with 14 full-time years, and return home to TN but not Oak Ridge. Â My husband passed away suddenly of a heart attack on June 18, 2013.
Facebook is my social media of choice, and I am on it more that I should be. Â I like to sew, work in the yard, and would love to travel more. Â I am currently trying to finish a quilt for the oldest granddaughter to give to her this summer. Â I have a cock-a-poo named Lucy. Â She is the first and only pet I have ever had.
This is one very proud graduate of Oak Ridge High School!
