2006  After ORHS, I attended UTK for 3 years majoring in Mechanical Engineering.  After getting an apartment just off campus and enjoying the 'college life'  too well, UT invited me not to come back.  That lead to a stint in the USMC where, as the Marines say, 'I got my head and a--together'.  Thus,  I returned to UT and got my degree in Aeronautical Engineering and promptly returned to the Navy as a Student Naval Aviator.  All went well there until my right eye let me down and I got out in 1974 and returned to Oak Ridge.  I have been here ever since working in various jobs from HVAC to environmental, trying to make a living without having to go to the 'big cities'.  It has been a struggle sometimes, of OR is still very much the government town and not a lot of other industry.  But I have not only survived, I have been blessed beyond my wildest dreams with a wonderful wife and fantastic daughter.  That's my daughter's graduation picture from May of this year and she is getting married in August.  She landed a job right off the bat in the University President's Office while her fiancé John finishes school this year (he too had a year 'off' from school).  Although John is from South Carolina and a Clemson fan, we still like him.  With a wedding coming up, I have started working with a friend who has a construction company 'on the side' and have started building houses, the first of which is currently under way.  If all goes as planned this will be my 'retirement Package' and maybe we'll have enough money to visit Crews in Hilton Head someday!  God's Blessing on everyone!
