2006 Hi Everyone! Boy the years have really flown by! I graduated from U.T. in 1971 and taught first grade at Fairview Elementary in Anderson County for 2 1/2 yrs. Then my husband, Jim took a job in Germantown, Maryland with Dept. of Energy. I found a teaching job with the Montgomery County YWCA Preschool program and taught for 5 years. We then had our first son, Tim and I became a stay at home Mom. Jim took a position with the Dept. of Commerce and worked on developing and opening U. S. Pavilions at World Fairs in the U. S. Our first being the 1982 Knoxville Fair. I loved living in Oak Ridge for those six months. We returned home to Frederick, Maryland (Urbana) and in 1984 our second son John was born. When John was nine weeks old, we moved to New Orleans for the 1984 Worlds Fair. Our next Fair was in 1985 in Tsukuba, Japan. That was a wonderful but stressful year! Sure glad I was in my 30's. I don't think I could handle the stress now! We returned home for a short time and left for Vancouver, Canada for the 1986 World's Fair. During that Fair is when I flew home for our last reunion. The Vancouver Expo ended our gypsy life. We returned to Maryland and I taught at John's preschool for a couple of years and then began teaching Kindergarten for Frederick Co. schools 16 years ago. The picture was taken 4 years ago at our son John's High School graduation. He is now a senior at Salisbury University, Salisbury, Maryland majoring in Political Sc. and History. Our other son, Tim graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore County with a degree in digital imaging and animation. He is presently doing commissioned work on line and has completed the artwork for an independent comic book company. He is a computer colorist. He's still searching for that 'right' job, so we are open to any offers. This has been a challenging year for me I opened a new school and began teaching all day kindergarten. Needless to say, I came home exhausted every day so it is nice that the school is only 5 min. from our house. Aren't we supposed to be thinking about retiring: My husband, Jim is with the State Dept. in D. C. working on Cultural Exchange Programs and thinking about the next World's Fair in China in 2010. He may decide not to retire as soon as he planned.
