09-13-2010 - REUNION Oct. 8 2010 to Cheer Randy,Hoyt, Len and Macky once again
 REUNION   REUNION  REUNION

FRIDAY  OCT. 8, 2010

Yeah, I know short notice, so get some one else to plan this stuff.

We are going to have a Mini Reunion on Friday Oct. 8,2010 to honor our new inductees into the Oak Ridge Sports Hall of Fame.  See Below.
We will also invite the classes of 65 and 67 since we feel their new inductees are part of our class too.

THE PLAN

5PM  till game time Tailgate at the Alexander Inn
You can bring food and soft drinks or buy hot dogs, hamburgers or pizza from their vendors.  You can buy beer from their verdors but you may not bring any booze onto the grounds and coolers will be searched. You can bring a grill and cook out if you wish. Cost is $10.00 per car if you park on the grounds or $5.00 per couple if you walk into the grounds and park your car else where.  An area will be set aside for the Class of 66 in the front of the Alexander toward Michigan Ave.  You will need to bring lawn chairs and blankets to set on since they do not provide them.
All money goes to restore the Alexander Inn

8PM  Football game to cheer the Wildcats on
Half time will have induction ceremony for Randy Poole, Hoyt Eason, Len Hart and Macky MacMahon
9:30 or Post game Reception at the Soup Kitchen with Pizza and Soft drinks or return to Alexander Inn to continue the party.

OK we need a few people to help out with this and we would like to get a covered firepit around which to roast hot dogs and marshmellows.

Please contact me asap at ncsnow@webtv.net and let me know if you even think you might come.  We need a head count to let us know how much space we might need.  If you definitely plan to come let me know so I can tell you how to reserve your space and let me know if you need special parking for physical limitations.

Yes this is the same weekend as St Mary's School 60th year celebration.

OAK RIDGE — The Oak Ridge Sports Hall of Fame has selected its 2010 class … with five new members scheduled for induction into the exclusive group.
The induction ceremony, scheduled Oct. 8 during the half-time ceremony of Oak Ridge High School's football game against the Karns Beavers, will spotlight:
• HOYT EASON: An Oak Ridge High School varsity basketball player who, along with Willie Golden and Randy Poole, led the Wildcats during the mid-1960s, Eason helped Oak Ridge players win their seventh and eighth straight district championship during his junior and senior seasons. Hoyt signed scholarship papers to play at Lake City, Fla., Junior College, along with teammate Golden.

• RANDY POOLE:  A two-year starter on the Jefferson Junior High and Oak Ridge High School basketball teams and a varsity player late in his sophomore year, Poole was All-District and All-State (senior year) and a 1966 state tournament MVP who averaged 30 points per game for the tournament. This Oak RIdger received a scholarship to the University of Kentucky under Coach Rupp, where he lettered in 1968 and 1969.

• LEN HART JR.: Along with his family, Hart has been an exceptional supporter of area athletics for many years … donating his time, offering financial donations, and providing overall encouragement as a fan. Len has helped provide various facilities for athletic venues, and he has also provided meals and scholarships throughout the years. As a student at ORHS, Hart was also a baseball player.
• CLETUS McMAHON: Dr. McMahon serves as team physician and was also an ORHS athlete. A member of the Class of 1967, he lettered in two sports — basketball and tennis — for three years; in fact, Cletus was the captain of a tennis team his senior year that ranked second in the state! He represented ORHS in singles' finals both his junior and senior years, and his basketball team went to state tournament for two of his three high school years. McMahon has served as team physician longer than any other physician — 30 years and counting.
• TOM WALBRECHT: A double threat to the opposing teams in both football and boxing, Walbrecht was a member of the ORHS football squad under Jack Armstrong — playing center and blocking back in 1955 and ‘56. He was a three-year member of the  varsity team and was named to the All-East Tennessee team in 1956 and ‘57. Involved in boxing for 25 years, Tom maintained the program in Oak Ridge. This Oak Ridger was a competitive boxer who captured the East Tennessee light-heavy weight title three times, and he also participated in Southern Golden Gloves.
