OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — Barbara A. Schultz died on Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, after a 10-year battle with cancer.
Barbara was born on Sept. 29, 1953, in Cookeville, Tenn., to Bonnell Nabors and Doris LaFever. She graduated first in her class from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Memphis, Tenn., and practiced as a registered nurse in Memphis and in Riverside, Calif. Barbara later worked as a marketing specialist for Covenant Health in Oak Ridge, retiring in 2003, a few years after being diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Patricia Williams.

She is survived by husband, Dr. Richard Schultz of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; her daughter, Wendy Knight, and husband, Jim, of Washington, D.C.; her son, Jeremy Schultz, of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; daughter, Kristina Schultz Weir, and husband, Jay, of Birmingham, Ala.; daughter, Bethney Adams, and husband, Jim, of Franklin, Tenn.; sister, Cathy Bauder of Colorado Springs, Col.; her nephew, Ryan Bauder; nephew, Trent Williams, and wife, Jill; nephew Shay Williams, and wife, Tiffany; her niece, Stacy Blackmon, and husband, Casey; her grandchildren, Ella Grace and Jared "Jack" Knight, Jake and Charlie Weir, Meredith Kate and Delaney Brooke Wilken and Samuel Garrett Adams; her great-nieces and -nephews, Addison, Emma and Molly Williams, Haden and Cohen Williams, and Brody Blackmon.
Services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Weatherford Mortuary, 158 S. Jefferson Circle in Oak Ridge. Receiving of friends begins at 5 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. A burial service will follow on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at noon at Crestlawn Cemetery, 800 W. Jackson Avenue in Cookeville. Serving as honorary pall bearers are Gary Mullins, Jay Mullins, Jared Mullins, Dr. Joel Perkerson, McRae Sharp, Craig Brent, Jacob Schneider, and Bobby Dzeiwulski.
The family wishes to recognize the gentle and expert medical teams at Little Rock Treatment Center, the Emory Cancer Research Center, and the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. And also the legion of family and friends who have been so supportive through the years. In particular, her queen bees, Karen Mullins and Ann Perkerson.
