OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — Mrs. Margaret Fox Snyder, age 86, died peacefully in her sleep in her home in Oak Ridge, on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010.
She was born May 28, 1924, in Greenbush, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur H. Snyder.
She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She was vice principal of St. Mary's Catholic School in Oak Ridge. She was one of the founding members of the school, and spent more than 30 years of her life teaching students of all ages.
She was universally loved by the St. Mary's Catholic community. She was president of the Catholic Women's Club. Mrs. Snyder will long be remembered as one of those extraordinary teachers who dedicated her time, attention and energy to her students. Â She helped to shape and inspire countless lives by her love and concern. She was a role model for how to live a good life, and her many gestures of kindness will long be remembered.
Mrs. Snyder was an avid world traveler, having visited many foreign countries.
She is survived by her son, Paul Snyder of Oak Ridge; her daughter, Peggy Snyder of Washington, D.C.; and her son, James Snyder of Houston, Texas; and two grandchildren, Drew and Alexa Snyder, of Houston, Texas.
Her family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. and a graveside service immediately following the Mass.
The family asked that in lieu of flowers, any memorials be made St Mary's. school.
