OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — Armeda B. Ramsey, age 88, of Oak Ridge, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011, at NHC Health Care Center.
She was born Feb. 24, 1923, in Mangum, Okla., the daughter of Mead C. and Gertrude Cheek Gilliam.
Mrs. Ramsey was a long-time hairdresser. She enjoyed designing jewelry, quilting and gardening. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Ramsey, on Dec. 3, 2000.
She is survived by daughters, Barbara Gold and husband, Bruce, of Jasper, Ga., and Gail Harp and husband, Jerry, of Kingston; son, James Ramsey and wife, Jane, of Hollywood, Fla.; brother, Carl Gilliam and wife, Betty, of Senora, Calif.; three grandchildren, Jessica Gold of Portland, Ore., Casey Kirlin and husband, Eric, of Chesapeake, Va., and Brady Harp and fiancée, Allison Campbell, of Atlanta, Ga.; and her Angels of Mercy, Doris Wanddell Dupont and Freda Schingle.
The family received friends Sunday, March 27, 2011, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral began at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Sonny Works officiating. Interment followed at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
