01-07-2009 - Secret City Festival Earns Top 20 Events Designation for Southeast Tourism Society
The Secret City Festival is continuing to make a name for itself across the country. The festival recently received the prominent "Top 20 Events" designation from the Southeast Tourism Society.
Not only has the festival attendance increased to 25,000 within six years of the festival's commencement, but it's starting to gain recognition from some of the top tourism entities in the country, said Katy Bown, president of the Oak Ridge Cnvention & Visitors Bureau. In the tourism industry, this is a very prestigious designation that every destination vies for.
The
sts is a nonprofit, membership organization which helps develop tourism-related industry organizations and professionals through the promotion of tourism within the member states. Each quarter, STS publishes a list called the "Top 20 Events." These events, which have been published since 1985, are chosen by STS from nomination forms received from tourism destinations in 12 states.
