Mary Jean Trapp, 66, originally of Oak Ridge, Tenn. passed away on Sept. 29, 2014 at Park West Hospital in Knoxville after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Oak Ridge to her parents, Ben and Joyce Martin. Known as Jeanie to her friends and family, she graduated from ORHS in 1966. In her youth she was an enthusiastic volunteer. One such activity was serving as swimming instructor for the American Red Cross program and Daniel Arthur Rehabilitation Center.
Jeanie was well traveled. After graduating from ORHS she lived in Memphis, Fresno, Calif., Staten Island, N.Y., Lakewood, N.J., and Holmdel, N.J.; where she raised her son, Riley. Jeanie moved to Knoxville in 1990 to be close to home. She worked for Dr. Susan Barnes, DDS for over 20 years. She loved her work family and wonderful patients she met over the years.
Jeanie will be remembered for her uplifting personality and her warm heart. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Jimmy.
Jeanie is survived by her son, Riley Trapp (Tiffany) of Knoxville; brother Bob (Linda) of Oak Ridge; nephews Bo (Mary Eva), Lenoir City, and Jay (Kathy); and great-nephew Ben Martin, Oak Ridge.
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Gardens. No services are planned.
