01-30-2015 - James Dale Collins & Sue Swartout Hewlette Obituaries

> James Dale Collins  June 3, 2014 James Dale Collins, age 66 passed away Tuesday June 3, 2014 at the East Georgia Medical Center in Statesboro.  He was an US Air Force Veteran and was a Taxi Cab driver for thirty four years. Preceded in death by his parents, James Elbert Collins and Margaret Ruth Collins. He is survived by his wife, Patricia W. Collins of Pembroke; children, Jasen Paul (Beverly) Collins of Oklahoma City, Susan Melissa (Richard) Auber of Guyton, and Margaret Ellen (Brandon Padgett) Collins of Brooklet; sister, Marilyn Collins (Thomas) Schultz; grandchildren, Katey and Patrick Middleton, Derrick Covington, Maya Padgett, Brandon Padgett, Christian Padgett; Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M., Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville with military honors rendered by the US Air Force.

Sue Ellen Swartout Hewlette Sue Ellen Swartout Hewlette, 66, died Thursday, November 6, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her parents, John Arthur and Ellen McCance Rogers Swartout. Sue was a graduate of Agnes Scott College as well as the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She was a former resident of Hilton Head, South Carolina and Columbia, South Carolina prior to moving to Hendersonville in 1998. Sue immersed herself in numerous activities to help her fellow man. She was an active volunteer with the Blue Ridge Literacy Council with the E.S.L. (English as a second language) Program. She was a Master Gardener, and enjoyed spending time outside at Carl Sandburg's Connemara home, particularly volunteering at the goat barn. She enjoyed the friendships she made during her yoga classes at the Y.M.C.A. in Hendersonville. However, what Sue cherished most in life was being around her loving family and friends. She is survived by one brother, William McCance Swartout and his wife, Margaret of Knoxville, TN. Two daughters: Laura Hewlette Belanger and her husband, Matthew of Hendersonville, and Sarah Hewlette Mort and her husband, Colin, of Middletown, Rhode Island. Three grandchildren: Levi and Owen Belanger of Hendersonville and Brooks Mort, of Middletown, Rhode Island. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at St. James Episcopal Church in Hendersonville, NC of which she was a member, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Joel G. Hafer. The family will receive friends in the Stillwell Hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society : P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 or Blue Ridge Humane Society: 88 Centipede Lane, Hendersonville, NC 28792.
