03-01-2016 - Reunion Bio and Pics Freels Bill

2016 Freels Bill

Freels Bill 2016 NS

2006 US Postal Service Transportation Co-coordinator-Phoenix.  Unfortunately I will be unable to make the reunion but my thoughts will be with you all.

Hello again! I have sent some photos from my phone so pick out the best, if there is such a thing! We were hiking in the Superstition Mountains near Apache Junction ( about 30 miles outside of Phoenix ) this past weekend and I thought the Saguaro cactus would be a good backdrop. These cacti grow about a foot every 10 years so this is an pretty old fellow so I thought we would go good together.
I love Arizona, met my wife out here when in the Army. Still together 45 years later.  Plenty of things to do. Spring training games all this month, Wednesday I will see Giants and Angels in Scottsdale, Thursday Giants and Brewers in Scottsdale. I have 4 games scheduled for the rest of the month. 192 golf courses within 50 miles of my house, about 12 that I can afford to play! Eight great months of great weather then June through September we hide as it is really hot. I am 5 miles from downtown Phoenix for Diamondback games ( air conditioned stadium).
Never snows, no ice, no tornados, no hurricanes, average eight inches of rain a year, five miles the other way to Arizona State University and college sports. One hundred twenty miles north to Flagstaff, and winter weather, skiing, snowboarding and hiking. Hiking all through the state. Grand Canyon, Canyon de Che ruins, Monument Valley, Meteor Crater, Petrified Forest to the north. Old Tombstone, Tucson, Karchner Caverns, Indian ruins and beautiful deserts in the south. Fiesta Bowl, Phoenix Open golf, Cardinal football,  International car shows. Great museums and theater all over the Phoenix area. I must say I enjoy the Senior discount everywhere, I just wish someone would card me! Last month I saw Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard together in concert. Made me feel young.
Bad things about living in Arizona: traffic, traffic, traffic. where the hell is everybody going! Not real friendly people. people here from all over the country, different accents, different cultures, different upbringings. Did I mention traffic? Hot Hot Hot summers! Hot! But the good outweighs the bad considerably and our 8 grandkids are growing up quickly and they all think I am a millionaire so they are nice to me. Boy are they going to get shocked when the will is read!
Thanks to you and Ted Cole for the hook-up and say hello to all the Elm Grove bunch. Man, that was a great school. I still read a book a week and I learned it at the Elm Grove library. I tell my grandkids it is free entertainment! Have a great party. If you see Danny Foster give him my best, we grew up on Decatur Road together. Thanks to you guys and gals for putting this together. God Bless the class of 66!
