10-04-2008 - Mitchell Lee Norris, Class of '66, died this past Friday, September 26, 2008
This is sad news I'm sending today. It was a shock to my family because we learned of my brother's illness only a week before he died.
Mitch died this past Friday, September 26. He had started having unexplained headaches around the first of August. They got worse after a couple of weeks, and the doctors discovered that he had cancer of the lining of the brain after tests. They did brain surgery and inserted a port directly into the brain lining for chemo in order that the chemo would go directly to the lining of the brain rather than having to work through his system. Unfortunately, his body would not tolerabe the chemo--he only had three treatments. So they tried radiation....he was into his sixth radiation treatment this past Thursday, but he was going down so quickly and died on Friday morning before our family could get up there that day to see him. He kept it from us until the last minute. He donated his body to science and his cornea. He was, of course, only 59.
My mom and the rest of our family are devastated, of course. Besides our family here, he is survived by his wife Penny, two step-daughters Jennifer and Shannon and their husbands Todd and Kerry, and two granddaughters Katelyn and Aubry. His wife's address is:

I'm not sure if you all as a class send sympathy cards or not, but I just wanted to let you know of his passing.
