OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — Virginia Vance Moore, 91, of Oak Ridge, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at NHC Health Care Center.
She was born June 22, 1918, in Wytheville, Va., the daughter of John William Johnstone and Bessie Frances Topham Johnstone.
Mrs. Moore was a homemaker and a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sons, Emmett Leslie Moore Jr., on May 4, 2005, and Rodney Webster Moore on May 26, 2009; and grandson, Jason Burgess.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Emmett Leslie Moore of Oak Ridge; sons, Larry Vance Moore and wife, Vickie, of Greeneville and David Johnstone Moore of Farragut; daughters, Rebecca Dean Wolfe and husband, Jack, of Huntsville, Ala., and Patricia Ann Burgess and husband, James, of Knoxville; brother, George Johnstone and wife, Ann, of Wytheville, Va.; sisters, Josephine Slemp and Frances Rebecca Johnstone, both of Wytheville, Va., and Alpha Moore Scott of Marion, Va.; 17 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church. The funeral will begin at 11 a.m. with Dr. Stephen Damos officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to Grace Lutheran Church, Oak Ridge, TN.
